Throughout her career and her work at the Children's National Medical Center, the Kennedy Krieger Institute and Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Brooks has gained extensive knowledge and experience helping children and their parents address a wide range of childhood mental health conditions. She is most passionate about and specializes in providing evidence-based treatments for anxiety, OCD, and related disorders. These treatments include:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
  • Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE)
  • Parent Management Training (PMT)
  • Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction for Teens (MBSR-T)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

As she recognized the increasing need for evidence-based and specialized treatments in smaller communities, Dr. Brooks founded the Anxiety and Behavioral Health Center (est. 2020), an outpatient mental health clinic in Ijamsville, MD. In addition to being a licensed psychologist in Maryland (#04873), Dr. Brooks is also able to increase access to specialized care as she has been granted the Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology by the PsyPACT Commission (APIT Mobility #8387) in 39 states.

Dr. Brooks is a member of the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA), the International Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Foundation (IOCDF), and the Maryland Psychological Association (MPA). She is dedicated to maintaining knowledge about state of the art treatments for anxiety, OCD, and related disorders and provides training to other professionals. She is committed to community involvement to raise awareness about anxiety disorders and OCD in children and adolescents and reduce suffering from these often debilitating disorders.
